A trip to Atlixco
While in Mexico we were making plans to celebrate Mom’s 80th with family and friends. The day before the big day we headed off to The City of Flowers to select flowers for the garden and the tables for the event.
While in Mexico we were making plans to celebrate Mom’s 80th with family and friends. The day before the big day we headed off to The City of Flowers to select flowers for the garden and the tables for the event.
This afternoon we received a digital file with all the photos that were taken in Mexico for Mom’s birthday. It was a beautiful time to visit and I am glad we were able to make it. I was so happy to see Castor with his family and all the joy it brought him.
We both got up around 6:15 this morning, finished packing, had tea and coffee and some pan and drove over to Maru’s to be taken to the bus terminal in San Martin. We took the 8:50 bus arriving at the bus terminal at 10:20, then took the Metrobus to the Airport, checked out bags, and… Read More Day 8: On our way home
I always enjoy visiting the family ranch and their original house. It is incredible that it was called home for years until the family was older, and they built the new two-story house. When you walk into the old house, you can feel the warmth of the family.
We slept into 10:00 am, took showers, had tea and pan, then took the bikes back to Maru’s house to meet the rest of the family. Breakfast was already in progress, so we proceeded to share the gifts that we had brought with us for everyone. After breakfast, we visited the cemetery and Dad and… Read More Day 7: Family day
We slept a bit today and had to walk to Maru’s house to help set up for the big day. We cleaned floors and chopped vegetables for the soup in the afternoon. We took the scooter home to change and freshen up and returned in time to see Mom at her Church mass. After the… Read More Day 6: Happy 80th Mom
After the hike up to the Church, we took a quick ride to the City Center, where we walked and found some pollo for dinner before heading out of town with a truck full of flowers.
The family decided that we would go to Atlixco today and select flowers for the big day. We took Mom, Maru and Family and Cas and I, with Cas and I riding in the back, which was great fun. Once there we had to hike up the hill and passed through some beautiful streets with… Read More Day 5: Atlixco: City of Flowers
After dinner, we had a little desert and headed to find a mini volcano here in town. We were able to climb down inside to see the center. It was a fun family adventure. Cuexcomate’s name is derived from the Nahuatl term cuezcomatl “a large earthen jar used to store grain”, because of its resemblance… Read More Day 4: A visit to Cuexcomate
After a fantastic night of sleep, we are picking up Mom and heading into Puebla for a dentist appointment to have a cleaning. After the appointment we met up with Lissette and picked up Matty from school.
