As a little kid, I was lucky enough to have a black-and-white television in my room. I remember that my father had always loved the comedies of his childhood, which he passed on to me. The Three Stooges, Amos and Andy, the Little Rascals, and Laurel & Hardy were shows I would watch over and over, and then I discovered I Love Lucy and fell in love with the show. From sick days, to Saturday morning I would always find I Love Lucy on TV and would watch them as often as I could.
When the series was released on VHS, I bought it, then DVD, then Blu-ray, and even on digital, I bought them all. While living in North Hollywood, I met Lucy’s Number One Fan, while working for Audience Unlimited, and he showed me his personal collection of Lucille Ball memorabilia, including autographed photos, gifts from the family, as well as Lucille Ball. He even gave me an I Love Lucy ornament and a watch Lucille Ball wore. While working at Universal Studios, the curator of the I Love Lucy Tribute gave me a box of negatives from the exhibit.
Over fifty years later, I still watch I Love Lucy at least once a week. From lunch breaks to days off, I start at the first episode, watch it to the end, then start over again and again. I know every gag and blooper, and I still laugh every time I watch it.
