Here’s a quick recap of our summer!

It was a whirlwind of activity, starting on June 1st when we took down that massive blue spruce tree in the front yard—it was taller than our house and just growing bigger! Once it was gone, we did some landscaping and absolutely loved the fresh, open feel of the yard. In mid-June, we stopped for a car wash and spotted some EV Blazer’s, and we thought we’d check them out since we’d been talking about getting a new car for me next year. That night, we bought a new Chevy Blazer EV and snagged a great deal, which wasn’t exactly the plan, but we’re loving it! By the end of the month, we’d added a charging station to the house, insulated the garage walls, and started doing a lot of Uber trips.

July brought more Uber trips after work, a family BBQ, and early in the month, we dropped off the Blazer to get the bumper replaced because a clip broke when we bought it. The loaner car was gas (yikes!), but I decided to use it for all the Uber trips (but no rides). We saw the Michael Jackson musical, and Mom, Deb, and I headed over to Spokane to see Barry Manilow in concert, which was his last one. I still had the Honda Civic, and before the Manilow concert, our neighbor backed into it, my first dent ever on the car. We started making homemade lactose-free ice cream, and my nephew and his wife had a beautiful baby girl. As we wrapped up the month, Cas wanted to check out the Silverado EVs since Costco was offering a $1000 incentive that was ending, along with the $7500 rebate. Now, we’ve got two all-electric EVs in our family!

In August, I kept up with my Uber adventures, and we both spent every night after work doing Uber for a few hours. Mid-month, a friend wanted to borrow the jet ski with his kids, and after they were done, we hit the water until the sun dipped below the horizon—it was a blast! I sold the Honda to a cousin, and she absolutely loved it and snagged a fantastic deal. After over a month, I finally got my Blazer back, but the bumper was on backorder, so I’ll have to wait for it to arrive. But hey, no more paying for gasoline! We started taking the Volt to work (when we carpooled), and we had our first shift where both new cars were together at work. The end of the month brought a rock chip in my windshield, which is a bit of a nuisance.

September rolled in with warm temperatures and a lot of smoke from various fires in the area. We continued to be non-stop Ubering, every day and full days on our days off from work, and we love it. We are hoping to really cash in during the winter, when there are fewer drivers because of the conditions.
