Day 3: bus tour

Our day started with a family breakfast at our favorite restaurant in downtown Puebla. Over breakfast, we discussed our plans for the day, which, at this point, were nothing. So we decided to return to the Airbnb and show it to Andres and Fer.

Then Magy suggested we walk around the downtown area a few blocks away. While there, they offered a bus tour of the city, which would take around 90 minutes. We had four different bus companies to select from. We walked over and were told they could take a group of eight, so we went to a different one and got right on.

We went to the open-roof bus and found seats. It was sunny but not too hot, so it was perfect for us. Mom needed an umbrella to filter the sun, but we were fine with the temperature of 74 degrees.

The tour started and ended downtown and took us to the fort that was part of the Battle of Puebla in 1862 and Mexico’s victory over the Second French Empire. It was a fun and interesting tour of the area. What was interesting was the story of the Puebla Cathedral, which was supposed to be built in Mexico City, but the mix-up allowed Puebla to be the tallest in the state.
