Day 4: Observation Point (part 1)

We were up and moving by 9:30 a.m., enjoyed breakfast with tea and coffee, and then headed off to today’s adventure: hiking to Observation Point. While at Phil’s, we discovered a few other hikes that would get us to one of our favorite Zion spots.

We drove around to the backside and followed a trail that brought us to the top of the mountain, which reconnected to the old hiking trail that was closed due to rockslides.

This route was quicker than the original but not as dramatic. Our first time here, we hiked the front of the mountain, and while at the top, we could see a storm coming towards us. As we headed back down, the storm hit with winds and rain, which made for a stressful descent back to the trailhead. We made it safely down but stopped a lot to let the wind or rain slow down before we continued.
